Electoral Commission  has  cleared four candidates to battle for Kagoma County parliamentary seat. T

The two day nomination exercise attracted  National Resistance Movement(NRM) flag bearer Moses Walyomu,  Independent Alex Brandon Kintu,  FDC’s Timothy Batuwa Lusala, and independent Bidondole Muhammad.

The exercise was conducted
by Jinja District Returning Officer Tonny Ambrose Mwaita at Kagoma County headquarters.

This the third consecutive by-election in which DP has no candidate as her leaders scramble for authority against members in Kampala

Kintu in March won a court petition that nullified Walyomu’s
election over vote bribery.

The judges overturned a decision of Jinja High Court that had rejected
evidence of voter bribery against Walyomu which had been brought
against him by his opponent Alex Brandon Kintu and ordered the Electoral Commission to conduct a by-election.

Kintu contested against  Walyomu in the last year’s parliamentary
elections with five other candidates where Walyomu garnered 16,391beating the rest.

However before the nomination exercise of Independent candidate Alex Kintu, a senior

Franco Magada 18 –years a resident of Church Zone in Buwenge Town
Council in Jinja fell off  a heavily loaded truck registration

He was rushed to Buwenge health centre IV in critical condition
that later referred him to Jinja regional referral hospital.

According to eye witness, the victim left home for school
but instead removed the uniform and parked it into the bag and decided
to escort  Kintu to the nominarion venue.

The Kiira Regional police spokesperson Mr Samson Lubega confirmed the
incident and warned supporters to avoiding over speeding and over
loading of vehicles especially in the campaign time to avoid such
incidents.
