Canon Alfred Olwa elected Bishop of Lango Diocese


Reverend Canon Dr. Alfred Olwa, the Dean of the Faculty of Divinity and Theology at Uganda Christian University, formerly Bishop Tucker College in Mukono is the Bishop elect of Lango Diocese. Rev. Canon Amos Magezi, the Provincial Secretary, Church of Uganda announced the election of Rev. Olwa on Wednesday evening.

According to Rev. Canon Magezi, Rev. Olwa was elected by the House of Bishops sitting at Namirembe Guest House on Wednesday as the 3rd Bishop of Lango Diocese. He said Rev Olwa will be consecrated and enthroned August 13th 2017 at All Saints Cathedral in Boroboro in Lira. Rev. Olwa was born January 29th 1964 in Namasale in Lango Diocese.

He holds a Diploma in Theology and Bachelor of Divinity from Makerere University and Bishop Turker Theological College, now Uganda Christian University Mukono, Research from Brunel University, Uxbridge; London Bible College in 2001 and 2003.

He is also holds a PhD, which he attained in 2012 from the University of Western Sydney; Moore College, Sydney. After his two years of study in England, Olwa returned to Uganda May 5th 2012 and was immediately appointed Dean of the Faculty of Divinity and Theology at Uganda Christian University where he has been to date.
